A hot tub cannot be lifted out in one piece by two people, and almost every Amarillo removal we do involves cutting the shell down on site. The acrylic gets sectioned, the frame and cabinet come apart, the pump and heater are pulled for scrap, and the pieces leave through whatever gate or side path is available. Done properly it takes half a day and your fence, decking and lawn are untouched at the end of it.
What the job involves
- Draining the tub, or you can drain it in advance to save time
- Disconnecting the electrical at the disconnect box, not the panel
- Cutting the acrylic shell into liftable sections
- Separating the pump, heater and copper for scrap recycling
- Removing surrounding decking or a gazebo if it is part of the job
- Sweeping and raking the pad so the space is usable
Before we arrive
- Drain the tub if you can, a full tub adds hours and weight
- Confirm gate width or whether we are going over a fence
- Have the breaker identified, we will not open a panel ourselves
- Tell us if decking or a surround has to come out too
What this costs in Amarillo
Single items normally fall into the minimum load or 1/8 truck bracket. Larger jobs price by the fraction of the truck they fill. Every bracket is published on the pricing page, and the quote you get on the driveway is the number you pay.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need an electrician first?
Not usually. We disconnect at the spa disconnect box outside. If the tub is hard wired straight into the panel with no disconnect, an electrician needs to isolate it before we touch it.
Will you damage my fence or lawn getting it out?
That is the reason we cut rather than lift whole. Sections come out through a standard gate. Where there is genuinely no route, we crane over the fence, but that is quoted separately.
How long does it take?
Three to five hours for a standard four to six person tub. A swim spa or a tub built into a deck runs longer and gets a site visit before we quote.
Can you take the decking around it as well?
Yes. Deck, gazebo, pergola and the pad if you want it broken up. It is priced with the tub rather than as a second job.
